l was just wondering, since they're funded by the taxpayers. Do conservatives consider them a waste or a wise investment?

How do conservatives feel about public libraries

They have no problem with them generally, so as long as such libraries do not possess any materail that would be deemed, in their view, ''seditious'' or ''sexually deviant.'' All the Christian devotional crap is fine with them; throw in anything regarding teenage awareness of homosexuality issues & these cons would have a conniption fit. Oh the horrors! LOL

***It is no surprise that Tr!sh does not use the library, considering the blatant idiocy that she spews out on a regular basis. ***

How do conservatives feel about public libraries

I'd be wary of anything a conservative says about libraries. They do have a rich tradition of burning books.

Libraries r part of a traditional civilized society so they have to be supported, as r universities, hospitals, schools, churches, the planned building of cities, & so on.

Conservatives r not opposed to social spending, however they believe that government taxation & government direction of institutions is inherently a poor way to fund social benefits & believe private citizens should support these institiutions directly, & not necessarily supply funding via taxation. In fact many libraries, universities & other institutions receive large portions of their funding from private sources & some r not funded directly by taxation.

A socialist plot with shelves filled with books by liberal minded people that try to capture the minds of our young, no doubt.

I like the library.

Much like police, education, 95% of roads, & fire coverage these r LOCAL & STATE programs that r legal in accordance with the constitution.

When u start talking about federal spending programs with no legal standing, that is when u start to upset libertarians.

Check out who pays for what, & all the ''essential services'' u can think of r going to be funded locally or by the states. Yet oddly, the states only collect a small fraction of the percentage in taxes that the federal government does.

When u understand why its O.K. for California or Massachusetts to have universal health care, & NOT O.K. for Washington D.C. to create a national plan, then u will see the light. (hint: its in the foundation of our national laws, bill of rights, #10)

How do conservatives feel about public libraries

Personally, I love public libraries. I read so much that i would go broke if I had to buy all the books I read! My husband, daughter and I go the the library every weekend. We love that the one in our neighborhood has a huge children is reading room, and we spend at least 2 hours there every week.

I think libraries are a very wise investment!

We use libraries a lot. A little knowledge can be dangerous, but a lot of knowledge is a good thing. Some even claim that knowledge is power.

Those who do not bother to use libraries are kind of like horses that you can lead to water, but can not make them drink.

''Steve C'' evidently does not know squat about Medicare ''D''.

Wise investment. Except most of them could use newer books more often. It is not like the people we typically complain about use them!

How do conservatives feel about public libraries

I think it is a good service for the government to provide for tax money.

Especially since I benefit from it as well.

How do conservatives feel about public libraries

Conservatives are not libertarians.

How do conservatives feel about public libraries

as long as a bleeding hearted liberal is not using our tax dollars to bribe the poor to cast a vote for a liberal, I am all for it. Libraries are not a waste of money due to the benefit of a well-read population and so far the libs have not been able to portray themselves as the inventors, sustainers and saviors of the library. That is a problem.

How do conservatives feel about public libraries

I would like to know how they feel about Medicare Part D, the biggest entitlement program passed in the last twenety years, which was passed by Mr. Bush.
